Meeting format varies depending on the topic. Some meetings lend themselves more readily to a speaker (i.e. Pediatric Emergencies) , while others work nicely as a group discussion (i.e. Reflections on our Mothers); still others are participatory (i.e. Self Defense). The Topics Committee works hard to vary not only the topics themselves but also the format in which they are presented.
The annual membership fee is $45. The local chapter retains a portion of this, while the remainder is sent to National.
Most of our members live in Bergen County, although we do have some from neighboring towns in Passaic and Rockland Counties.
No. Mothers & More provides
services that meet the needs of mothers who are - by
choice or circumstance - altering their participation in
the paid workplace over the course of their active
parenting years. We have moms who have left full-time
employment to be at home with their children full-time,
moms working part-time outside the home, moms starting
up their own businesses, moms packing a full week's paid
work into four days, moms transitioning back to
full-time paid employment, moms working from home, and
moms pursuing further education. Moms join us because
all shifts in the role of paid work in their lives have
an impact on them personally, and they are looking to
connect with other mothers in similar situations.
You are welcome to join us for up to 2 general chapter meetings before becoming a
member. However, we must ask that you become a member before participating in any of the other chapter events.
Nationally, over 7,000 women are
members of Mothers & More. In the Bergen County
chapter, we have about 85 members.
We encourage our members to view
chapter meetings as opportunities to focus on themselves
as individuals, apart from the demands of family. For
some mothers, this is a rare opportunity to spend time
socializing away from home without children. We do
realize that for some mothers and infants a separation
of several hours is difficult. Therefore, only
non-mobile infants are permitted to attend the meetings.
Absolutely. Once you become a member you are welcome to participate in any of the activities that interest you, whether or not you can attend our general meetings.
